Distant Archives is a free synthwave internet radio and community. It is free to use, with no third-party advertising. Here, in plain language, is what we store and the rules everyone agrees to.
When you sign up we store the email address and username you give us, so you can log back in. We use these only to run your account, never to sell or share with advertisers.
Your posts, comments, polls, profile details and any images or GIFs you upload are saved on our database so they sync across your devices and so other people can see what you choose to make public. Public posts and your profile are visible to anyone who visits.
Private messages are stored so we can deliver them between you and the people you talk to. We do not read them or use them for anything else. Your direct-message visibility follows the privacy setting on your profile.
Your saved stations, volume and player preferences stay in your own browser (localStorage) on your device. When you press play, your browser connects directly to third-party radio providers, who, like any site you visit, may see your IP address. We do not control their policies.
We do not sell your data. Accounts, posts and uploads are hosted for us by Supabase, our database and storage provider, purely so the app works. No third-party advertising networks are used; any promo you see is our own.
You can delete your own posts and uploads at any time inside the app. To delete your whole account and everything tied to it, email us and we will remove it.
Keep it respectful. No harassment, hate speech, threats, spam, illegal content, or posting other people's private information. Keep uploads under 5 MB and only post media you have the right to share. We may remove content or accounts that break these rules.
